Help Us Build The Clubhouse
Fund Raising Progress
NONA needs to raise $1.6 million to create the purpose-built facility for children and youth in need.
A community initiative called Build the Clubhouse is underway to construct a new $1.6 million facility for children with special needs. NONA Child Development Centre provides services in the North Okanagan to more than 700 children and youth with special needs and their families each year. The increasing number of children and youth who are diagnosed each year with Autism Spectrum Disorder is driving the need for more space and more appropriate resources.
Each year, NONA helps more than 700 families in the North Okanagan with their child’s development. The need for more space with appropriate resources is driven by the increasing number of children and youth who are being diagnosed each year with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Currently, children and youth are receiving therapy in a facility they have outgrown and which presents some safety concerns related to the aging facility. This aging facility, called the Clubhouse, will be sold to help fund the New Clubhouse. But it won’t be enough to cover the costs of a new building. Therefore, NONA is asking the community for help to Build the New Clubhouse!
NONA needs to raise $1.6 million to create the purpose-built facility the children and youth need.
The New Clubhouse will feature:
- Double the number of therapy rooms for children;
- One-way mirrors so parents and others can observe and learn about service delivery and design for each child;
- Active Gymnasium for physical learning, exploration and energy releasing, perhaps even with a climbing wall;
- A learning kitchen where children and youth can learn about eating, nutrician, safe food preparation, and other life skills.
The third floor will be leased to a complementary service which will help pay the building operating and maintenance costs, while allowing for the long-term possible expansion needs of NONA.
NONA is a non-profit registered charity run by a volunteer board. We are so grateful for all the donations we receive towards this project and thank our many generous individuals, service clubs, families, foundations, businesses, and other who have donated to the campaign so far.
